Open Work Order Audit
An open work order audit reviews unfinished requests, their priority and age, assigned ownership, blockers, and next action.
An open work order audit is a documented review of unfinished maintenance requests and the action needed to move each one forward. It checks the status of outstanding work rather than treating an assigned work order as a completed repair.
For example, a property team could review age, priority, assigned owner, current status, communications, blockers and next action. HUD's 1994 Maintenance Guidebook describes recording the source, nature, priority, cost and timing of work, tracking outstanding orders, and regularly reviewing work still to be done. This historical reference supports the review practice; it does not set a current service deadline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does assigning an open work order mean it is complete?
No. Assignment identifies who is responsible. Review the current status, work performed, completion record and any remaining blocker before treating the request as resolved.
