Work-Order Triage
Work-order triage reviews a maintenance request, assigns its priority and routes it to the responsible person or provider.
Work-order triage is the early review of a maintenance request to understand the issue, assign an appropriate priority and route it to the responsible person or provider. Triage is an intake and prioritization step; it does not by itself complete the repair.
A team could use the request description, location, equipment, safety context and service history to choose the next action, then record the owner and status. IBM's documented work-order workflow separates submission from approval, prioritization, creation, assignment, execution and closure; it is an example workflow, not a required Coastline process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is triage the same as completing a work order?
No. Triage determines the initial priority, owner and next step. Completion requires the repair or service to be performed, documented and closed under the operating process.
