Decision Rights
The assignment of authority and roles for making a particular decision and carrying it out.
Decision rights specify who makes a particular decision and the roles others play in reaching and carrying it out. Those roles can include preparing a recommendation, supplying input, giving required agreement, deciding, and executing.
For a property team, document the decision owner, scope of authority, required contributors, and person responsible for follow-through. Making a decision and implementing it are separate roles; access to a system does not by itself establish authority to approve a business action.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does responsibility for execution also mean final decision authority?
Not automatically. The person carrying out a decision and the person authorized to make it may have different roles. State those responsibilities explicitly.
