Emergency Preparedness
Emergency preparedness develops response capability through planning, resources, training, exercises, evaluation and improvement.
Emergency preparedness is the continuing work of planning, organizing, equipping, training and practicing before an incident, then evaluating results and correcting gaps. Its purpose is to develop the ability to coordinate a response.
A written plan is one part of preparedness. Training and exercises help people understand their roles and reveal assumptions or resource gaps that need attention. The cycle continues as plans and conditions change.
